It covers the three most gorgeous cities of the country. The Golden Triangle is so called because of the triangular shape formed by the locations of New Delhi, Agra and Rajasthan on a map, but is occasionally expanded to include the wider geographical area of North India, most frequented by tourists. Tourist fly from Delhi, travel south to the site of the Tal Mahal at Agra,, then West to the desert landscapes of Rajasthan, including the city of Jaipur. These trips usually last 7 or 8 days and do the trip as a circuit starting and ending in Delhi. This triangle has been dubbed "golden" for the extraordinary wealth of cultural and historical splendour on offer in each of the three cities.
Delhi's main attraction is its street life. The teeming bazaars of "Old" Delhi, the city of the Moghuls were established in the 17th century. See the huge Jama Masjid (Great Mosque) and its main thoroughfare, the Chandni Chowk. The Red Fort, whose pristine lawns and lofty Moghul audience halls offer a tranquil haven. To the south, British-built New Delhi is a fascinating contrast, radiating out from the boutiques and cafés of Connaught Place:south, British-built New Delhi is a fascinating contrast, radiating out from the boutiques and cafés of Connaught Place. The imperial mall, Rajpath, leads to the mighty arch of India Gate.

Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, is also known as the Pink City. It is an alluringly frenetic old quarter with red-washed buildings, packed with stalls selling everything from silk to milk. Of Jaipur's numerous monuments, the Hawa Mahal - an ornate five-storey façade, designed to allow the women of the royal household to observe the street in anonymity - has become an icon of Rajasthani architecture.
Completing the triangle, Agra, for its entire monumental splendor, boasts of the stupendous Moghul fort in the city centre and the ethereally beautiful Taj Mahal. The marble mausoleum is by far the most popular tourist site in India. In addition, Agra offers other jeweled tombs and architectural marvels .
