Known as the "land of high passes", Ladakh is located in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in Northern India, wedged between the Karakoram mountain range to the north and the Himalayas to the south. Ladakh festival takes place in September 1-15 every year in Leh and villages around Leh.

Ladakh Fairs and Festival

The inauguration of the Ladakh festival ceremony in Leh, takes place on a large scale with a procession of various cultural troupes from across Ladakh. The procession then passes through the Leh Market with the cultural troupes singing and dancing to traditional music. Attired in colorful traditional Ladakhi dresses the troupes then terminate at the Polo ground, performing their best dances and songs. The Ladakh festival carries on for 15 days with programs happening in most of the villages. The program includes Polo, Archery and Mask Dances performed by the monks from the monasteries. Series of musical concert and dance programs are performed in the main town of Leh.The Ladakh Festival brings together a magnificent display of the inherent diversity of the region through a medium that not only helps in reviving the tradition but also provides an artistic display. It is quite an enjoyable attraction for both the local and the international tourists. In 2017, the dates for the Ladakh Festival is from 18th to 25th September.
